Certified Global Chief Executive Officer (GCEO®)

Certified Global Chief Operating Officer (GCOO®)

At The Global Quality Council we understand the ‘one size fits all’ approach to certification doesn’t work. We more than anyone understand the Quality journey, and accordingly we recognize 2 levels of certification, to award the most appropriate certification designation to reflect your career circumstances.

WHO SHOULD CERTIFY?

A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the highest-ranking executive in a company. Broadly speaking, a chief executive officer’s primary responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of a company, acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors and corporate operations. In many cases, the chief executive officer serves as the public face of the company. However, the CEO is elected by the board and its shareholders. They report to the chair and the board, who are appointed by shareholders.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior executive tasked with overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of a business. The COO typically reports directly to the chief executive officer (CEO) and is considered to be second in the chain of command. In some corporations, the COO is known by other terms, such as “executive vice president of operations,” “chief operations officer,” or “operations director.”

BODY OF KNOWLEDGE

The topics in this new BOK include descriptive details (subtext) that will be used by the Exam Development Committee as guidelines for writing test questions. This subtext is also designed to help candidates prepare for the exam by identifying specific content within each topic that may be tested.

The subtext is not intended to limit the subject matter or be all-inclusive of what might be covered in an exam but is intended to clarify how the topics relate to a manager’s role. The descriptor in parentheses at the end of each entry refers to the maximum cognitive level at which the topic will be tested. A complete description of cognitive levels is provided at the end of the document.
